Overview

GHRP-2, also known by its research name Pralmorelin, is a first-generation synthetic peptide composed of six amino acids (a hexapeptide).³ It is classified as a potent growth hormone secretagogue (GHS) and is one of the most widely used peptides in its class for research purposes.⁴ It functions by mimicking the action of ghrelin, the body’s endogenous “hunger hormone.”⁵

Mechanism of Action

GHRP-2’s primary mechanism involves binding to and activating the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR-1a).⁶ This action initiates a strong, pulsatile release of endogenous growth hormone through a dual-action pathway:

2. Somatostatin Inhibition: It actively suppresses somatostatin (also known as Growth Hormone-Inhibiting Hormone), a peptide that normally inhibits GH release.⁸
